Robert Stack is an American artist who has been living in Ireland since 2002. He is originally from Columbia, Missouri and studied art at the University of Missouri, where he received a Master's Degree in Fine Arts in 1995.
Robert's preferred area is landscape painting. He usually works with watercolor, but he is also proficient in acrylic, colored pencil and pen & ink. He is also an accomplished illustrator, for which colored pencil is his medium of choice.
Most of Stack's pre-2002 paintings are landscapes set in and around Missouri/Kansas and feature the rolling hills, river valleys and traditional architecture of that part of middle America. Now a resident of Ireland, Stack uses the small towns and rural scenery of County Laois as inspiration. He has also used the urban scenery of nearby Dublin as the source for more than a few paintings.
Robert's father, Frank Stack, is a former Professor of Art at the University of Missouri, and is a renowned painter, printmaker, and cartoonist. His influence can be seen in many of Robert's paintings, particularly his watercolors.
Robert lives in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, with his wife Áine, and his three sons, Conor, Fionn and Dara.
